The AYA-Innovation pilots, a continuation of TQIntelligence’s ongoing pilot with multiple partners in the US, are a commitment to the use of AI/ML and Generative AI to address a growing mental health crisis in Africa. The innovative pilots will leverage computational approaches in mental health, including the development of Bots and educational resources to support providers and community health workers.
TQIntelligence, with the support of our partners, has collected and analyzed thousands of pediatric (ages 5 to 18) voice samples and other clinical data, achieving more than 80% accuracy in detecting clinically relevant psychiatric symptoms.
The addition of Africa intends to validate and verify the cross-cultural application of the voice algorithm; it will be benchmarked against the local clinical understandings and the gold standard of clinical practice tools. The current pilots in Ethiopia, in collaboration with multiple partners, including the AI Institute, Amref Health, St. Paul Hospital, and Oromia State University, are developing linguistically diverse customer/patient-facing features to enable a community-based care delivery model.
